Campania de vaccinare împotriva gripei porcine pe care autorităţile sanitare intenţionează s-o demareze în scurt timp este deja contestată vehement. Sub deviza „Nu acceptăm să fim cobaii vaccinului AH1N1 în România”, Fundaţia „Sfinţii Martiri Brâncoveni” Suceava a împărţit 30.000 de pliante prin care îi îndeamnă pe oameni să nu accepte acest vaccin. Pliantul distribuit în special prin biserici, dar şi în alte locuri publice din judeţul Suceava este intitulat „Un atentat la viaţa umană: Vaccinul împotriva gripei porcine”.Scos sub îndrumarea medicului Mircea Puşcaşu, preşedintele Fundaţiei „Sfinţii Martiri Brâncoveni”, pliantul conţine numeroase mesaje şi argumente împotriva vaccinului.Oamenii sunt anunţaţi că vaccinul este periculos şi provoacă cancer şi alte boli grave, iar totul este un imens complot al companiilor farmaceutice. „Boala nu se manifestă mai drastic decât o răceală severă, deci rolul vaccinării este pus sub semnul întrebării. În Marea Britanie, cea mai afectată ţară din Europa, se înregistrează o mortalitate de 0,03%, cu mult mai scăzută decât în cazurile de îmbolnăviri cu o gripă obişnuită de tip A, deci nu se justifică vaccinarea în masă a populaţiei, cu atât mai puţin în România, unde s-au înregistrat doar câteva sute de cazuri!”, se arată în acel pliant.
„Întrebări fără răspuns”
În paragraful unde sunt incriminate acţiunile companiilor farmaceutice şi ale statului român, autorii pliantului au ridicat o serie de întrebări la care nu au răspuns.„De ce sunt copiii cei care trebuie să primească cei dintâi un vaccin experimental? Ce răspuns va da statul pentru cazurile în care copiii şi femeile însărcinate vor fi afectaţi?”, sunt doar două dintre întrebările fără răspuns ridicate de Fundaţia „Sfinţii Martiri Brâncoveni”.Iniţiatorii mesajelor din pliant nu înţeleg, de asemenea, de ce vaccinarea este obligatorie „când riscurile bolii sunt mici, iar riscurile vaccinării sunt enorme”, iar etica medicală prevede că orice tratament trebuie urmat doar dacă există „consimţământul informat al pacientului”.„Este o bombă mediatică de care beneficiază marile companii farmaceutice. Noi vrem să-i conştientizăm pe oameni ce implică folosirea unui vaccin care nu a fost testat pe piaţă. Eu personal nu îmi voi face acest vaccin, iar oamenii trebuie să ştie că nimeni nu-i poate obliga”, a completat medicul Mircea Puşcaşu.
Directorul Direcţiei de Sănătate Publică (DSP) Suceava, medicul Ludovic Abiţei, a declarat că este la curent cu apariţia pliantului şi cu conţinutul său.„Am informat Ministerul Sănătăţii şi aşteptăm un punct de vedere oficial. Personal cred că aceşti bani puteau fi folosiţi în scopuri mai bune şi recomand populaţiei să se vaccineze. Cred în tratamentele pe care sistemul medical le promovează”, a precizat Abiţei.Întrebat despre faptul că pliantul este promovat de medici, în frunte cu preşedintele Fundaţiei „Sfinţii Martiri Brâncoveni” Suceava, şeful DSP Suceava a replicat: „Sunt medici şi medici”.Medicul Ludovic Abiţei a admis că vaccinul nu ar putea fi eficient pentru toată populaţia, dar a menţionat că în medicina preventivă se lucrează cu mase mari de oameni şi că timpul va decide corectitudinea măsurilor ce se doresc a fi implementate în cazul prevenirii gripei AH1N1. The swine flu outbreak was a ‘falsepandemic’ driven by drug companies that stood to make billions ofpounds from a worldwide scare, a leading health expert has claimed.
WolfgangWodarg, head of health at the Council of Europe, accused the makers offlu drugs and vaccines of influencing the World Health Organisation’sdecision to declare a pandemic.
Thisled to the pharmaceutical firms ensuring ‘enormous gains’, whilecountries, including the UK, ‘squandered’ their meagre health budgets,with millions being vaccinated against a relatively mild disease. A resolution proposed by Dr Wodargcalling for an investigation into the role of drug firms has beenpassed by the Council of Europe, the Strasbourg-based ‘senate’responsible for the European Court of Human Rights.
An emergency debate on the issue will be held later this month.
DrWodarg’s claims come as it emerged the British government isdesperately trying to offload up to £1billion of swine flu vaccine,ordered at the height of the scare.

He said: ‘We have had a mild flu – and a false pandemic.’
Headded the seeds of the scare were sown five years ago, when it wasfeared the much more lethal bird flu virus would mutate into a humanform.

Dr Wodargsaid: ‘The governments have sealed contracts with vaccine producerswhere they secure orders in advance and take upon themselves almost allthe responsibility.

‘So they just wait, until WHO says “pandemic” and activate the contracts.’
Healso claims that to further push their interests, leading drugcompanies placed ‘their people’ in the ‘cogs’ of the WHO and otherinfluential organisations.
He added that their influence couldhave led the WHO to soften its definition of a pandemic – leading tothe declaration of a worldwide outbreak last June.

The Department of Health says thatalthough the disease appears to be on the wane, it cannot rule out athird surge and urges all those entitled to the jab to have it.
ProfessorDavid Salisbury, the Government’s head of immunisation said there were’no grounds whatsoever’ for Dr Wodarg’s claims, saying people withconflicts of interest were kept out of the decision-making process.
AGSK spokesman said: ‘Allegations of undue influence are misguided andunfounded. The WHO declared that H1N1 swine flu met the criteria for apandemic.
‘As WHO have stated, legal regulations and numerous safeguards are in place to manage possible conflicts of interest.’
Thecompany, which still employs Sir Roy, said he had declared hiscommercial interests and had not attended any meetings related to thepurchase of drugs or vaccine for either the Government or GSK.
Romanii au o vorbă: “mortul de la groapă nu se mai întoarce”.
Aşa este, oricât de mult mi-aș dori, nu îl voi mai vedea niciodată pe
fratele meu în aceasta lume. Acest gând este trist, dureros, sfâşietor,
însa trebuie să-l accept. și ăl accept, dar tot nu am linişte. De când
fratele meu a părăsit această lume, îmi vin în minte tot felul de
întrebări… “De ce Toni nu s-a dus din timp la doctor?”, “De ce, când
speram că își revine, a murit?”, “De ce Dumnezeu a vrut să-l ia de
lângă mine atât de devreme?”. Niciun răspuns…
Încerc sa fiu tare, însă sunt neliniştit. Îmi amintesc exact toate
vorbele pe care medicii mi le-au spus în cele 11 zile în care Toni a
fost internat la terapie intensivă, la Institutul “Matei Balş”. Ceva nu
se leagă! Informaţiile pe care le-am primit se bat cap în cap.
Profesorul Adrian Streinu-Cercel afirma răspicat: “Toni Tecuceanu a
murit de gripa porcină”. Degeaba, nu am linişte.
Fratele meu a fost internat la spital în noaptea de 24 spre 25
decembrie 2009 în stare gravă. Plămânii i-au fost afectaţi aproape în
totalitate. Doar vârfurile plămânilor mai erau sănătoase. Medicii au
spun încă de atunci că şansele de supravieţuire sunt mici, iar după
simptome erau convinşi că este vorba de gripă porcină.
I s-au făcut două teste, iar rezultatele au fost negative. Abia după ce i s-a luat a treia oară din secreţie, rezultatul a fost pozitiv. Iniţial, medicii mi-au spus că Toni avea virusul AH1N1 în organism de opt zile. Apoi, profesorul Adrian Streinu-Cercel a anunţat că acest virus se instalase în organismul fratelui meu de trei zile. Mai mult, uneia dintre ”bebelușele” de la Cronica Cârcotaşilor i s-a spus, de către medici: “Toni Tecuceanu nu are gripă porcină”.
Ciudat, nu? Asta nu e tot! Răcit fiind, Toni a petrecut foarte mult
timp alături de cârcotaşi. Oana Ioniță chiar a mâncat din mâncarea lui.
Au mâncat unul după altul. Au respirat acelaşi aer. Au mers în aceeaşi
maşină. Totuşi, niciunul dintre ei nu s-a îmbolnăvit, deşi medicii au anunţat ca în lume este pandemie și că gripa porcină are contagiozitate foarte mare.
În plus, cu câteva zile înainte de a fi internat la spital, Toni a
acordat un interviu unui jurnalist de la Adevărul timp de trei ore.
Întâlnirea a avut loc în casa fratelui meu, care nu se simţea deloc
bine. Cu toate acestea, ziaristul respectiv nu a contractat nici el
boala. Nimeni dintre cei ce au intrat în contact direct cu el, în
perioada de trei zile de când zicea profesorul Adrian Streinu-Cercel că
Toni contactase virusul, nu a fost infectat cu virusul AH1N1.
Pe parcursul zilelor în care Toni a fost internat la terapie intensivă
la “Matei Balş”, medicii mi-au spus ca, în afara plămânilor, celelalte
organe ale fratelui meu nu sunt afectate. Apoi, după necropsie, m-au
anunţat că toate organele i-au fost afectate. Alta ciudăţenie, nu? Si,
totuşi, lucrurile bizare nu se opresc aici. În ziua în care fratele meu
a încetat din viață, doctorii mi-au spus ca a murit, cel mai probabil,
din cauza unui infarct.
Apoi, după efectuarea necropsiei, am întrebat: “Care a fost cauza
decesului?”. Mi s-a răspuns că încă nu se ştie cu exactitate și că în
foile oficiale au trecut ”Insuficienta cardio-respiratorie acută,
bronhopneumopatie acută bilaterală și obezitate-gradul II”. Am întrebat
de infarct… “Cauza decesului o puteţi afla peste trei săptămâni, după ce vom analiza totul la microscop. Daca a fost vorba de infarct, vom vedea la microscop”, a fost răspunsul, cel puţin ciudat, care mi-a fost oferit.
Acum, după moartea lui Toni, toţi romanii dau navală la spitale pentru
a se vaccina. Se vorbeşte de “Fenomenul Tecuceanu”…Oare e un fenomen
sau doar o manipulare fără scrupule? Nu ştiu…
Profesorul Streinu-Cercel susţine că vaccinul nu are efecte secundare. Eu am aflat, din surse medicale, că acest vaccin nu este prea indicat,
că după un an începe sa atace organismul. Probabil, nu voi primi
niciodată răspunsuri la aceste nedumeriri, însa nu vreau ca moartea
fratelui meu să fie folosită în scopuri murdare. Eu nu am putere, însă
sunt convins că Bunul Dumnezeu va face lumină în acest caz.
În momentul de față, redacția ROVB face cercetări în cazul
morții suspecte a actorului Toni Tecuceanu, prieten și frate al nostru.
Sunt câteva piste pe care am demarat cercetările pentru demascarea
minciunilor din jurul morții sale, moarte ce a provocat îngrijorare în
rândul populației, privind gripa nouă. Îngrijorarea i-a făcut
pe oameni să ia cu asalt centrele de vaccinare ”contra AH1N1”, în ciuda
dubiilor care planează asupra acestui vaccin lansat cu dibăcie
drăcească, pentru a satisface interesele financiare ale companiilor
farmaceutice.
Până nu vom veni cu rezultatul cercetărilor noastre preluăm materialele
de pe blogul Oanei Ioniță, bebelușa blondă din echipa cârcotașilor,
deoarece, până acum, ea este cea mai vehementă împotriva declarațiilor
oficiale privind moartea lui Toni și este total impotriva folosirii
numelui colegului său și a moartii acestuia in scopul promovarii
vaccinarii!
Oana Ionita, colega lui Toni Tecuceanu, acuza mediatizarea excesiva si mincinoasa a mortii “carcotasului”, care a dus la actuala isterie a gripei porcine:
“Toni era racit de 3 saptamani, a venit cu noi la munte pe piciore,tusea si avea putina febra. Chiar daca am insistat sa se trateze,raspundea ca o sa se faca bine si ca nu are nimic. Nu s-a tratat, nu a statnici o zi acasa sa se ingrijeasca. A fost cu noi, echipa in tot acesttimp, la filmari, la masa, in masina sau in casa. Cum se explica faptul ca noi toti suntem sanatosi? Repet, racescrepede, de cand eram mica aveam probleme cu raceala, sunt sensibila siam fost depistata la un moment dat, la Institutul Cantacuzino si cu streptococ auriu. Am inteles ca l-am luat cand eram mica dintr-unspital, ca o sa-l am toata viata, si tocmai de aceea ASLO il am mereupeste limita maxima. Am inteles ca sunt destul de firava in fatavirusului si tocmai de aceea ma intreb…cum? Revenim la tema. Cum se face ca pandemia asta este atat de grava, nu a afectat penimeni din echipa, familie si prieteni? Repet nu a fost diagnosticat cugripa AH1N1 nimeni dintre noi. Din punctul meu de vedere ar fi doua concluzii care trebuiesc trase: 1. Toni nu avea gripa porcina, ci s-a dorit utilizarea unei persoane publice pentru a face oamenii sa se vaccineze. 2. Daca avea gripa, (aici apar intrebarile) de ce noi suntem perfect sanatosi, familia, colegii, prietenii? Este posibil ca Toni sa se fi infectat in timpul internarii? Este posibil sa fie avut o bacterie care a actionat doar in cazullui pentru ca asa cum imi povestea si matusa lui, ca avea probleme cuplamanii de cand era mic? Sunt niste supozitii care acum probabil nu-si mai au rostul. (…)
Pentru mine a fost crunt sa vad cum pleaca Toni. Poate sunt preasensibila sau poate atmosfera sfasietoare te obliga la indurerare. Afost o zi care nu credeam ca o sa vina vreodata. Sunt convinsa ca multe din afirmatiile si concluziile trase de peurma decesului lui Toni, au fost pentru a mediatiza efectele pandemiei.Multi m-au sunat si m-au intrebat daca am facut un test sau vaccin saudaca am patit ceva. Haideti sa va explic. Medicii au spus ca avea acest virus AH1N1 in organism cu 8 zileinainte de internare. Imi este greu sa cred ca eu nu am nimic. Estevorba de o pandemie, nu? Ar trebui sa fie extrem de periculos sa intriin contact cu o persoana avand o boala inalt contagioasa. Noi am plecatla munte impreuna (doar eu cu el in masina) spre filmarile de sarbatori,chiar cu 5 zile inainte de internare, am respirat acelasi aer timp de 8ore. La filmare chiar am facut o gluma si am mancat de la el dinmancare. Sunt o fire destul de sensibila la raceli, chiar e posibil sanu am nimic? Nici macar o raceala avand in vedere ca in scoala luamorice raceala foarte repede. Este cumva vorba doar de o mediatizare exacerbata pentru manipularea maselor? se intreaba Oana Ionita, ca o concluzie la mai multe postari pe tema vaccinului controversat si a mortii lui Toni, pe care le gasiti pe blogul ei, https://www.bebelusaoana.ro.
Unnou studiu pe baza victimelor epidemiei de gripa AH1N1 in Statele Unitereleva ca autoritatile ar fi trebuit sa se astepte sa aiba de-a face cuo epidemie tipica sau chiar mai blanda decat de obicei.
Cercetatoriide la Universitatea Harvard si Medical Research Council BiostatisticsUnit din Marea Britanie au conchis ca autoritatile au exageratamenintarea gripei porcine, informeaza ABC.
“Credca a fost, inca de la inceput, creata ca o criza si exagerata ca oamenintare reala”, comenteaza Philip Alcabes, profesor asociat laSchool of Health Sciences, Hunter College.
“Gripa este o boalaserioasa, omoara oamenii. Insa aduce un deserviciu sanatatii publiceatunci cand, in numele unei cruciade a pregatirii, oamenii creeaza opoveste de criza sau catastrofa inainte sa avem suficiente date cum caasta se va intampla”, continua el.
Alcabes sustine ca, lainceput, oficialii au recunoscut ca au prea putine date cu privire lavirus si au rezistat cererilor de inchidere a granitelor. Insa, pemasura ce a trecut timpul, oficialii au luat o multime de masuri carenu erau necesare, cum ar fi vaccinarea in masa.
Desi noul studiusugereaza ca erau slabe sansele ca gripa porcina sa declanseze oepidemie severa, autorii spun totusi ca autoritatile nu aveau de undesa stie, la momentul respectiv, cum va evolua virusul.
Intr-un interviu realizat in iunie anul acesta cu Iulian Fota, consilierul pe probleme de securitate national al presedinteleui Traian Basescu (un alt interviu obtinut de mine, in exclusivitate, pe care directorul Ziua, “celebrul” Mihai Pilsu – “700 de accesari”, a incercat, stupid, sa-l blocheze) acesta sintetiza riscurile care planeaza asupra tarii noastre – ROMANIA – SPIONAJ, PANDEMIE, RAZBOI – Iulian Fota, Consilierul pe probleme de securitate al presedintelui Traian Basescu. Suntem loviti, iata, de doua dintre aceste riscuri, dinspre Est. Sa speram ca nu va veni si al treilea risc pe capul nostru (desi se poate spune ca, din mai multe puncte de vedere, suntem intr-un continuu razboi, nevazut sau mai putin vazut).
Slovacia inchide frontierele cu Ucraiana. Romania ar trebui sa faca la fel
Raspandirea virusului A/H1N1 in Ucraina a creat o stare de panica si in tarile vecine, transmite Agerpres. Ministerul Sanatatii din Ungaria a anuntat deja ca situatia din Ucraina, ar putea crea o stare de urgenta si in Ungaria.
“In Ucraina exista un virus foarte rapid si virulent. Numarul pacientilor se multiplica peste noapte, iar aceasta creeaza o situatie de urgenta in Ungaria, pentru ca virusul nu se va opri la frontiera”, a subliniat ministrul sanatatii din Ungaria, Tamas Szekely.
Autoritatile sanitare din Ungaria au anuntat ca sunt pregatite sa ajute Ucraina, tara unde exista o lipsa de vaccinuri si medicamente. Mai mult, Ungaria s-a oferit deja sa asigure vaccinarea politistilor de frontiera si a vamesilor ucraineni de la granita comuna. De asemenea, Crucea Rosie ungara va furniza medicamente si masti in estul Ucrainei, unde traiesc etnici ungari.
Polonia a cerut Uniunii Europene sa ajute Ucraina
Premierul polonez Donald Tusk a cerut oficialilor din Uniunea Europeana sa acorde asistenta de urgenta Ucrainei in lupta impotriva gripei porcine.
“Natura acestei amenintari necesita masuri urgente la nivel UE, care vor servi atat intereselor Ucrainei, cat si intereselor UE”, a spus Tusk intr-o scrisoare adresata presedintelui Comisiei Europene, Jose Manuel Barroso.
De asemenea, Autoritatile din Cehia vor acorda Ucrainei un ajutor de 195.000 de euro, bani care vor fi folositi pentru combaterea gripei porcine, transmite NewsIn.
Slovacia restrictioneaza circulatia la frontiera cu Ucraina
Autoritatile din Slovacia au restrictionat de astazi regulile de circulatie la frontiera cu Ucraina, dupa cum informeaza NewsIn.
Ministrul de interne slovac, Robert Kalinak a anuntat ca va inchide un pasaj pietonal de la frontiera ucraineano-slovaca, Velke Slemence – Mali Selmenci si va interzice trecerea pietonilor la un alt punct, Ubla – Velykyi Bereznyi.
Conform ultimelor date furnizate de Ministerul Sanatatii din Ucraina, 67 de persoane au decedat pana acum din cauza gripei porcine.

Dovezi care par să sugereze că Baxter International este responsabil pentru un nou focar mortal de pneumonie virală în Ucraina, descris drept “gripa porcina”.
În luna Februarie a anului 2009 Bloomberg a raportat că Baxter a trimis “accidental” material de vaccin, conţinand atât virusul viu al gripei aviare, cat şi pe cel al gripei sezoniere mai multor laboratoare din întreaga lume. Un laborator a decis să testeze vaccinul pe dihorii sai, dar toti dihorii au murit în mod neaşteptat. Trebuie să se menţioneze faptul că Baxter a mai făcut o “greşeală”ca aceasta si alta data. Produse din sânge fabricate de Baxter contineau odata HIV. Mii de bolnavi de hemofilie au murit din cauza aceasta, şi mulţi au infectat in continuare si pe soţii/ soţiile lor.
Mai târziu, în acelasi an, o poveste bizara a apărut pe internet. The Huffington Post a raportat despre un individ numit Joseph Moshe, care a fost arestat după mai multe ore de interogatoriu la Poliţie, pentru că se presupune ca a făcut ameninţări împotriva Casei Albe. Omul a fost capabil să reziste la mai multe expuneri la gaze lacrimogene.
Cu toate acestea, comunitatea de pe internet a fost foarte sceptica cu privire la motivele adevărate din spatele arestarii acestui om. Comentariile pe site-ul Huffington Post au început imediat cu privire la o parte nedeclarata a acestei povesti, şi anume că Joseph Moshe era un agent Mossad specializat în războaie biologice, care a facut apella populatie, într-o emisiune de radio, in care avertizeaza despre o arma biologica făcuta de către Baxter International si răspândita prin vaccin. Se presupune ca aceasta ar provoca o plagă la eliberare.
Cu toate că oricine poate face amenintari şi niciodată nu ar trebui să credem pe oricine, partea uimitoare cu privire la cele sustinute de Moshe a fost locul în care a spus Moshe că se produce arma biologică.
Moshe a susţinut că laboratorul Baxter unde s-a produs aceasta arma, a ales Ucraina din toate locurile unde Basxter facea exprimente, iar acolo se lucra la crearea acestei arme biologice. Toate acestea au iesit la suprafata la începutul lunii August 2009, adica cu mai mult de 2 luni înainte ca situaţia grava din Ucraina sa iasa la iveala. Moartea era rapida, sălbatica şi terifianta.

Nov. 2 (Bloomberg) — The World Health Organization sent a team of experts to Ukraine today to investigate an outbreak of respiratory disease that’s sickened a quarter of a million people and left pharmacies without masks or flu remedies.
A group of epidemiologists, physicians, laboratory technicians and communications advisers is scheduled to arrive tonight in Kiev, Gregory Hartl, a WHO spokesman in Geneva, said in a telephone interview today.
Ukraine faces an outbreak of flu-like illness that’s killed at least 67 people and infected 255,000, according to the country’s first deputy health minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets. About 22 patients tested positive for swine flu, Lazoryshynets said. It’s “difficult to tell” whether the pandemic H1N1 virus is responsible for all the cases, according to Hartl.
“There are a lot of unknowns,” he said. The crew of experts will collect samples from patients and send them to the WHO’s influenza collaborating center in London for diagnosis. The WHO may have more information on Nov. 4, Hartl said.
Ukraine’s government has closed schools and banned public events. In four of Kiev’s 10 districts, a majority of drugstores posted handwritten signs in their windows that read “no masks.” A central information line for the city’s drugstores said yesterday most stores had run out of protective masks or flu and cold remedies such as paracetamol, called acetaminophen in the U.S., and new supplies were expected later in the week.
Onions, Garlic and Lemons
The streets of Lviv, the city near the Polish border that’s reported the most cases, were empty yesterday, with museums, restaurants and stores closed, said Halyna Shymanska, a 47-year- old doctor. Shymanska, who runs a private ultrasound diagnostics office in nearby Truskavets, said pharmacies have run out of masks as well as antivirals and basic flu medicines.
“People are relying on folk remedies like onion and garlic,” she said in a telephone interview.
Garlic and lemons, also used as a flu remedy, are now scarce in the town of Cherasky, in central Ukraine. The price of a kilogram (2.2 pounds) of lemons there has quadrupled to 50 hryvnia ($6.10) in the past week.

‘A Bit of a Flap’
H1N1, a new flu strain that’s evolved in pigs, humans and birds, has sickened at least 440,000 people and killed over 5,700 since it was discovered in Mexico and the U.S. in April, the World Health Organization said last week. The WHO estimates seasonal flu causes up to 500,000 deaths a year.
“It’s a bit like Mexico in the beginning,” said John Oxford, professor of virology at Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry in London, adding that Ukrainian authorities may not have the scientific resources they need to observe the outbreak closely. “One’s first reaction is that not due to any fault of their own, they’re getting into a bit of a flap.”
It’s unlikely that the virus has mutated and become more deadly, according to Oxford. “It doesn’t fit with the experience of other countries at the moment, so why should the Ukraine be different,” he said.
An analysis of early data on the outbreak suggests severe cases and deaths in Ukraine occurred among adults aged between the ages of 20 and 50, according to the Geneva-based WHO.
The U.K. Health Protection Agency estimated on Oct. 29 that about 521,000 of the country’s 61 million residents have gotten the virus since the pandemic began, and 137 of them have died. That’s a death rate of 0.03 percent, similar to the one Ukraine’s numbers indicate.
Across the Black Sea, Bulgaria also said it was hit by a flu epidemic, closed schools and banned gatherings, the Sofia News Agency reported, citing Angel Kunchev, head of the health ministry’s department of control of communicable diseases.

Demisia unui “strein cu cercel”
Directorul Insitutului de Boli Infectioase “Matei Bals” si-a anuntat oficial demisia in cadrul audierilor din comisia de Sanatate din Camera Deputatilor, unde fusese convocat pentru a anunta masurile luate impotriva extinderii gripei porcine in Romania.
Streinu Cercel a prcizat in timpul audierilor ca acest virus a facut o serie de progrese a vitezei cu care se propaga, iar tara noastra se afla in categoria in care virusul a facut o rata de deces minima.
“Stim ca virusul gripal isi creste virulenta si agresvitatea in pasajele interumane. S-au intentificat cinci categorii ale virusului, una in care suntem si noi, rata deces fiind sub 0,1%. In acese conditii, Romania trebuie sa isi asume 3.300 pana la 6.000 de decese (dupa ce anterior vehiculase cateva zeci sau chiar sute de mii de decese – nota mea). Asta inseamna ca trebuie sa fim pregatiti cu sectiile de terapie intensiva”, a declarat Cercel, in fata deputatilor, inainte ca presa sa fie invitata afara din sala de sedinta.
Specialistul de la Matei Bals a explicat ca pacientii cu gripa porcina pot dezvolta in 72 de ore simptome grave, ajungand la imposbilitatea de a mai respira, din cauza asa-numitului “plaman alb”.
Cercel a anuntat ca in luna decembrie tara noastra ar putea primi un echipament special pentru aceasta problema, Romania asteptand in prezent acordul Bancii Mondiale pentru finantare.

NY TIMES BREAKING NEWS ALERT: Obama Declares H1N1 Flu a National Emergency
The White House on Saturday said that Mr. Obama had signed a proclamation that would allow medical officials to bypass certain federal requirements. Officials described the move as similar to a declaration ahead of a hurricane making landfall.
FOX NEWS ALERT: President Obama signed a proclamation declaring the H1N1 influenza a national emergency, giving doctors and medical facilities greater leeway in responding to the flu pandemic.
Obama signed the declaration late Friday, which the White House said allows medical treatment facilities to better handle a surge in flu patients by waiving federal requirements on a case-by-case basis.
“The foundation of our national approach to the H1N1 flu has been preparedness at all levels — personal, business, and government — and this proclamation helps that effort by advancing our overall response capability,” the White House said in a statement.
The flu has infected millions of Americans and killed nearly 100 children in the U.S. The chief of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that over a thousand people have died as a result, with 46 states reporting widespread H1N1 activity.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve seen more than 1,000 deaths and 20,000 hospitalizations,” said Dr. Thomas Frieden, head of the CDC. “We expect it to occur in waves, but we can’t predict when those waves will happen.”
Sixty million Americans have been vaccinated against the seasonal flu this year, but an additional vaccine against H1N1 has been in short supply. About 120 million doses were expected to be made available by the middle of October, though only 11 million doses have been shipped to health departments for use.

Actiunea este intentata de angajatii new-yorkezi din sanatate care refuza vaccinul obligatoriu, a declarat pentru AFP unul dintre avocatii care ii reprezinta.
Jim Turner, de la cabinetul Swankin and Turner din Washington, sustine ca FDA a autorizat patru vaccinuri experimentale impotriva gripei porcine fara a efectua toate testele prevazute de lege pentru a demonstra ca nu exista efecte secundare.
In Romania, campania de vaccinare va incepe din 1 decembrie, cand trei milioane de prescolari, elevi si studenti vor fi vaccinati gratuit impotriva virusului A H1N1.
‘Riscurile pe care le prezinta vaccinul sunt necunoscute’
“Riscurile pentru sanatate pe care le prezinta aceste vaccinuri sunt total necunoscute”, a declarat el, precizand ca este vorba de prima actiune in justitie de aceasta natura si, daca ea va fi aprobata, se va aplica la nivel national.
“Vaccinul nu ar fi trebuit autorizat atata timp cat FDA nu a terminat testele”, explica avocatul.
Acuzatorii sustin ca FDA a eludat cele mai elementare criterii legale menite sa asigure securitatea publica si atrage atentia asupra faptului ca aceste vaccinuri sunt distribuite la milioane de oameni, inclusiv copii.
Jim Turner a avansat si posibilitatea ca vaccinul antigripal sub forma de spray nazal, care contine virusi vii, sa “declanseze el insusi pandemia pe care guvernul federal afirma ca vrea sa o evite”.
Avocatul mai spune ca FDA a autorizat si utilizarea unui adjuvant, Squalene, pentru a creste eficienta unei doze unice de vaccin. Or, acest adjuvant ar putea fi toxic, crede el.
In ceea ce priveste vaccinurile sub forma de injectie – majoritatea, de altfel – aceste contin thimerisol, un conservant cu mercur care creste riscurile pentru femei insarcinate, spune avocatul.
Societatile farmaceutice – imunitate pentru efecte secundare
El critica si imunitatea acordata de autoritatile sanitare americane firmelor farmaceutice care produc vaccinurile, in conditiile in care acestea nu pot face obiectul urmaririlor in justitie pentru efecte secundare.
Autoritatile sanitare din SUA au efectuat teste clinice pentru aceste patru vaccinuri experimentale impotriva virusului H1N1 pe cateva mii de persoane, iar FDA a aprobat utilizarea lor pentru intreaga populatie intr-o maniera expeditiva, dupa ce nu a observat niciun efect secundar serios.
Statele Unite au comandat peste 255 de milioane de doze, dintre care 77 de milioane au fost deja distribuite in aceasta campanie de vaccinare masiva, care a inceput in octombrie.

On June 17, 1996, the U.S. Air Force released Air Force 2025, “a study designed to comply with a directive from the chief of staff of the Air Force to examine the concepts, capabilities, and technologies the United States will require to remain the dominant air and space force in the future.” In the unclassified study, the College of Aerospace Doctrine, Research, and Education at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama posed several “fictional representations of future situations/scenarios” likely to arise. In 2009, according to a figure in the Air Force 2025 report, influenza kills 30 million people. Is it merely a coincidence the Pentagon would propose in 1996 a deadly flu pandemic for 2009 when live H5N1 avian flu viruses are discovered in vaccines produced by a Baxter International plant in Austria? “The fact that Baxter mixed the deadly H5N1 virus with a mix of H3N2 seasonal flu viruses is the smoking gun,” writes Paul Joseph Watson. “The H5N1 virus on its own has killed hundreds of people, but it is less airborne and more restricted in the ease with which it can spread. However, when combined with seasonal flu viruses, which as everyone knows are super-airborne and easily spread, the effect is a potent, super-airborne, super deadly biological weapon” of the sort proposed in Air Force 2025. Last year, author and researcher F. William Engdahl revealed a Pentagon effort to weaponize avian flu. “If the reports are accurate, this could unleash a new pandemic on the planet that could be more devastating than the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic which killed an estimated 30 million people worldwide before it eventually died out,” writes Engdahl. Engdahl then suggests “that sections of the international pharmaceutical industry cartel are acting in concert with the US Government to develop a genetically modified H5N1 virus substance that could unleash a man-made pandemic.” He cites Rima E. Laibow, MD, head of the Natural Solutions Foundation, a citizen watchdog group monitoring the pharmaceutical industry, who states: Our best intelligence estimate is that pandemic Avian Flu has already been created through genetic engineering in the United States, fusing the deadly genome of the 1918 Pandemic, misnamed the ‘Spanish Flu’, with the DNA of the innocuous H5N1 virus in a growth medium of human kidney cells, according to the National Institutes of Health and the vaccine’s manufacturer. Some virologists believe that this would insure that the man-made mutant virus recognizes human cells and knows how to invade them. Finally, it should be noted that Walter E. Boomer, a retired former four-star General and Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, sits on the board of directors of Baxter International. Of course, this is not definitive evidence the military controls Baxter or is behind the “accidental” contamination of H3N2 seasonal flu viruses with the H5N1 virus at its laboratory in Austria. It is highly suspicious, however. Baxter International has had a relationship with the military since 1941, when its blood-collection devices were the only ones that met the specifications of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Technological advances are rampant and the world struggles with rapid change and its effects.1 These tremendous advances in technology have led to the development of many astonishing inventions, such as an individual device that can perform a myriad of simultaneous functions. For instance, a watch phone can be used to conduct video-phone calls and teleconferences;2 monitor a daily schedule, including required tasks and to-do lists;3 display global positioning satellite (GPS) location to include altitude; and even monitor aerobic conditioning, energy, nutrition rates, emotional state, and the status of artificial organs.4 However, many traditional customs and events have faded away, erased by the extreme rate of change. Most holidays are overlooked, and Julian dates5 are the norm. Technological progress has led to adverse effects as well, creating almost as many problems as it has solved.6 For example, technology has produced some harmful physiological side effects for the human body, causing most humans to have at least one transplanted organ by the time they are in their mid-thirties. Fortunately, advances in biotechnology rectify many medical conditions.7 The proliferation of technology has made the world more susceptible to random violence but also has provided the means to avoid some threats. For instance, since technology provides virtual experiences better than anything live, and large crowds present a target of opportunity to terrorists and disgruntled groups, nearly all sporting events, plays, shows, and theater events are “experienced” at home.8 This world is entitled Digital Cacophony, due to its often discordant nature. Of the six alternate futures, this world is by far the most advanced in DTeK and offers the greatest promise of wealth and power for the individual. On the other hand, it is also the most dangerous for both individuals and states. Figure 5-1 illustrates Digital Cacophony’s position in the strategic planning space.
In this world, technology has empowered many individuals, but at the same time disenfranchised numerous governments and organizations. Due to the Exponentialn proliferation of DTeK, everyone has instant access to global networking and the burgeoning, almost omniscient, database system.9 Unparalleled DTeK development has sparked explosive economic growth across the planet. However, those who do not fully share in the wealth of these ventures use technology to terrorize the elites, using weapons of both an insidious and overt nature. Nation-states have lost vitality as independent entities since information and wealth cross international boundaries with impunity.10 Electronic democracies are the political system of choice, with everyone having a direct vote on every issue.11 This creates “fuzzy states” with shifting policies at times. Life in this world is full of promise . . . but this is also a world of fear. Plausible History In the world of Digital Cacophony, technology brings people together, but also tears them apart. As seen in figure 5-2, the year 2000 was a benchmark in many ways. For the first time, the world was “wired,” and anyone could gain access to worldwide information.12 This development exacerbated social unrest globally as have-nots learned how little they had compared to the well off.13 Meanwhile, nuclear proliferation continued unabated, spreading to 20 states.14 International politics, overwhelmed by transparent information borders, could not control the spread of nuclear technology and materials.15 By 2002, ever-increasing technological breakthroughs in the genetic engineering of plants and animals led to an abundant food production capability,16 spurring population growth as a result of declining mortality rates in third world countries which previously suffered recurring famine. Technology could not solve some old problems, as in 2009, when an influenza pandemic struck in southern China, then rapidly spread worldwide.17 Three hundred-thirty million people were affected and over thirty million died.18 No one ever determined if the virus was a natural mutation or bioengineered.19 Many feared the latter.
The threatened migration of unemployed masses from second- and third-world countries continued to challenge the few wealthy states. By 2010 the United Nations dissolved due to its inability to resolve these issues and regional conflicts.20 In the resulting vacuum, bilateral and multilateral security arrangements between nation-states and interest groups flourished. In 2012, Wall Street was hit with a super high energy radio frequency (HERF) wave, which destroyed all financial databases.21 Since advanced information warfare capability was available worldwide, a number of competitor states were investigated, but tracing the source was impossible. The US economy was in turmoil for weeks during database reconstruction, and businesses demanded federal action to prevent further attacks.22 By 2015, 48 actors had acquired several classes of weapons of mass destruction and the accompanying delivery systems.23 Threats of conflicts involving nuclear, chemical, biological, and information weapons became common. During the North African territorial war, a tactical nuclear detonation killed thousands of people.24 The world began an expansion into new frontiers by 2020. Space travel with accompanying outposts became common, and many multinational corporations established production facilities in space to exploit the solar system’s resources.25 However, space assets also became a target and required heavy protection.26 Underwater settlements were also prototyped during the early 2020s to support mining operations of hydrothermal vents.27 Many challenges face this world in 2025. Almost any individual or group can acquire weapons of mass destruction or disruption, and threats are one of the few constant things in this world. The Nature of Actors The ubiquity of information and the affordable nature of high technology have led to a dispersal of power in this world. Nation-states have become less important, while individuals and small groups can now have tremendous impact on world events. Everyone communicates via the global net, even using it to do all their shopping by electronically hopping around the globe. Individuals can live in one country and work for an MNC in another country “on-line.”28 Continuous terrorist threats have caused an ever-present fear, and individuals prefer not to leave the security of their dwelling, let alone meet in large groups. Seemingly, only those individuals who are either overtly adventurous or covertly claustrophobic join organizations such as the active military, which entails much travel and danger. Others interested in serving do so on-line in the reserves. In Digital Cacophony, individuals demand direct input regarding political decisions, and the government has become a virtual location, or fuzzy state, rather than being confined to capitals such as Washington, D.C. Most democratic countries now operate on versions of the “netocracy,” or electronic democracy standard. This system allows constituents to voice their opinion and vote on every issue. The netocracy antiquated the traditional three-party political system and relies solely on electronic interaction. MNCs also gain influence, profiting from the proliferation in commercially derived, advanced technology. Nation-states cannot control the transfer of wealth and information among internal and external groups, and as a result, state sovereignty declines.29 However, people still look to their national government and military to provide national security and ensure conditions conducive to economic prosperity.30
Nature of International Politics Global instability increases as the threat of WMD holds under-protected information systems and populations at risk.31 However, nuclear WMD are not the primary problem in Digital Cacophony. The primary problems are the traditional “poor man’s nuclear weapons,” chemical and biological toxins, which are readily produced in this world. Information nets are also vulnerable to weapons of mass disruption (sometimes called WMd). Cross-linked alliances, nation-state combines, religious factions, MNCs, or other actors multiply in an attempt to enhance security against numerous threats. Paradoxically, these multilayered links combine with economic interdependencies to create complex and unexpected interactions with outcomes no one can predict, effectively making the world more dangerous.32 The growing power of individuals and groups (reflecting the dispersal of power in Digital Cacophony), along with increasing population pressures, increases the number of conflicts. Every minor conflict has the potential to explode into a major regional war with the use of WMD and information disruption weapons. Millions have already died as a consequence of biological and chemical attacks. The roles of governmental and nongovernmental organizations are constantly changing, and their power has decreased drastically. As governments focus on regional and global conflicts, nongovernmental organizations (NGO) must increase their role in disaster relief operations. The UN disintegrated due to its inability to resolve massive immigration attempts and numerous regional and global conflicts.33 There is no nation-state left with the power to control world events, leaving bilateral and multilateral security arrangements which shift constantly as actors try to keep pace with changing threats. NATO still exists, but has become trivial, relegated primarily to the role of a legal secretary between countries negotiating security arrangements. The Nature of US National Security Strategy The US national security strategy in Digital Cacophony is two-fold, first to deter and defend against hostile actions against US citizens, companies, and property, to include the use of WMD; and second, to ensure open electronic information flows. Most Americans have strong ties and interests around the globe via information networks. These interests are often targeted by terrorists; and US citizens feel the military should protect these interests, whether they be goods, services, equipment, territory, or personnel. The military is equipped to meet all known contingencies at any location worldwide. They are directed to deter WMD through aggressive counterdetection, counterterrorism, and counterproliferation strategies.34 The national security strategy also addresses the enforcement of free and open electronic trade throughout all nations and groups. The military is well trained and specially equipped for this mission and constantly monitors nearly all information networks. The Nature of Humanity In this world, individuals can hold great power and are able to affect the outcome of a great many things. However, they are only independent as a single entity on the internet, as they are totally reliant on the net to function. Despite the allure of the electronic faux-life, a common dream is to “unplug” and be left alone for awhile . . . but the thought of missing the latest info-update is too enervating. Psychologists have categorized this neurosis as “infolepsis,” a condition of frequent and uncontrollable desire for information.35 People communicate freely on the net, but many have also become isolationists, unable to communicate face-to-face. The net has become the center of people’s existence. “Net-vangelism,” or internet evangelism, has become a dominant form of persuasion, competing equally with other media forms. It is often used to sway public opinion regarding proposed government policies. Due to the rapidly changing political and technological environment, most people suffer from high levels of anxiety. Many cannot cope or are uncomfortable with Exponentialn change and its apparently unknowable impacts. Sometimes even those comfortable with technology find themselves temporarily on the outside looking in. For example, disgruntled software engineers who are replaced by artificial intelligence are able to temporarily disrupt portions of the information net, causing havoc in the transportation network.36 The Nature of Technology Exponentialn DTeK is the key driver in this world, accelerating beyond the control of world actors. Technological advances often result in unintended consequences, such as ready access to weapons of mass disruption. In a society dependent on the global network, a disruption to that service is often more damaging than a physical attack.37 Information is a prized commodity, often used to barter, as normal power structures have become diluted. In particular, the filtering and sifting of information becomes the focus of almost every organization and individual.38 Information equals power and control, but the main information challenge is sifting through databases to clear contaminants and waste by-products, such as unwanted and unneeded information. Personalized, self-adapting information filters are at the forefront of market demand. Filters also guard against “cyberagents,” who prowl the net. Cyberagents infiltrate deep into cyberspace to detect, alter, steal, and destroy information filters and files. Since filters cannot protect against, nor detect, all “tainted” or false information, individuals have lost confidence in the information they are receiving.39 Customers force innovations in a bottom-up research and development era, and companies must remain adept at satisfying individual customer needs. Some of the most significant advances have been in the medical field.40 For example, most known diseases are detected and treated at birth; anti-aging products and services ensure a life expectancy exceeding 100 years of age; and genetic mapping allows researchers to examine the underlying causes of disease.41 Organ replacements are now performed as outpatient surgery, with a seven-to-ten day recovery time. Limb replacement patients complete rehabilitation in four to six weeks. These and other medical advances help sustain a high military operations tempo, as damaged soldiers can often be healed and recycled to the zone of operations in days. Nonmedical advances include the development of new super materials designed at the molecular level,42 miniaturization of most hardware devices,43 and robots for most domestic and manufacturing tasks.44 The military relies heavily on advances in civilian technologies rather than funding their own niche research,45 and quickly adapts and incorporates any new technology to keep ahead of the competition. Since personal residences are the focus of all day-to-day activities, most services are provided directly to the home. For instance, quality primary and secondary education is available on the net.46 This “democratization” of education has brought the world computer literacy rate to over 90 percent, and most individuals have college-equivalent degrees. Because interconnectivity is total and virtual, information technology is used for more than just power; it is also used for pleasure and intellectual fulfillment. For example, due to personal safety concerns, the majority use “sensurround systems” to enjoy sporting activities, or take vacations in the safety and comfort of their biologically filtered domicile. Sensurround is a series of biochemical and electronic systems providing a total virtual firsthand experience, more stimulating than life itself. Sensors are strapped onto the body and one can actually feel what is happening on the sport fields or while skiing the Alps, switching “locations” at a whim. The Nature of the Environment The rampant nature of DTeK leads to unintended chaotic effects in Digital Cacophony. A major concern is managing the unanticipated outgrowth of problems and unforeseen vectors spun off by the rapid and revolutionary leaps in technology. Consequently, this world is characterized as a “256-color” world; parts are green, parts are brown, and other “colors” just splash across the canvas. There are too many colors, and most are artificial. Also, everyone has a voice in this world, and it is difficult to find peace and quiet with those voices coming at you from every direction. Unanticipated problems are an unfortunate outgrowth from this world, and controls are often not established in a timely manner commensurate with the dangers of technological developments. For instance, easy access to technology and materials caused a rapid spread of WMD. Another unintended consequence was when biogenetic diseases, developed for military and commercial use, escaped to the open environment. Information weapons of mass disruption also exist, and filter industries must devote ever greater resources to the problem of viruses that have escaped from information warfare centers.47 Some viruses evolve and are rarely detectable, existing as “stealth” viruses of unknown motivation, origin, or destination.48 The terrorist threat has reversed the trend toward urbanization as people have scattered across the globe. Technology makes living just about anywhere feasible. Many live underground for additional protection and environmental aesthetics. Underwater settlements are beginning to flourish in support of the various mining operations and food production sites.49 Technology has made great leaps in the day-to-day care of the environment. All trash is recycled and industrial waste has almost been eliminated.50 Water is also recycled worldwide,51 while air and water filters keep home dwellings safe. People and animals suffer from organ failure due to the extreme electromagnetic radiation from the numerous electronic devices,52 but medical advances have made this problem treatable. Energy resources are plentiful, with substantial reliance on renewable resources such as wind, solar,53 tidal, and wave energy,54 as well as the expanded use of nuclear fusion.55 The Nature of the Defense Budget Technological advances have accelerated the growth of gross domestic products worldwide. For instance, the US GDP has risen an average of 6 percent annually over the past 30 years to $39 trillion.56 Accordingly, the federal budget has easily been able to withstand a rise in defense spending to more than $300 billion in 1995 dollars (see fig. 5-3), an amount that represents less than 1 percent of American GDP. Military budgets-particularly for modernization, which is now 60 percent of the total DOD budget-rise in an attempt to stay apace with threats. Obsolescence is a recurrent problem, and some systems’ lifespans are measured in months or less. Though the defense budget has increased, serious threats from all directions, because of ready access to WMD and information disruption systems, reduce the overall security of US citizens. DOD Budget (Constant FY95 $B) for Digital Cacophony Capabilities America’s global world view supports a technically proficient military, able to inject itself into surface, spatial, and virtual operating environments. The US has chosen to be involved globally because the fuzzy state has, in a sense, formed a fluid continuum seeping into all of the world’s nooks and crannies. The US perceives this continuum as a global neighborhood sharing one backyard,57 one that must be made safe to preventcrises from propagating in unforeseen ways. To protect this backyard,forces must be adept at fighting in conventional, unconventional, andinfo-war environments. They must exploit advanced detection capabilitiesto locate and disarm both physical and virtual weapons. Fortunately, asmall engagement force is generally sufficient to deter or resolve mostsituations. These small teams exhibit specialized training, with eachindividual proficient in tasks ranging from hostage negotiations tonuclear weapon disarmament. Multifunctional equipment, easily adaptableto varied environmental conditions, is also required. Advancereconnaissance, detection, and communication assets are key to directingboth teams and equipment.Two other areas of primary concern for the military are modernizationand defense. Modernization is never-ending in the face of proliferationof technology, and intense training is required to maintain forces at ahigh state of readiness.58 Physical and virtual defenses are everywhere. Implications In Digital Cacophony, DTeK’s Exponentialn growth has contributed to an unstable world, domestically and internationally. The proliferation of mass destruction and disruption weapons keeps the world on edge. As fears in the US escalate, individuals turn to the netocracy in dictating what military action they want accomplished. At times it is not clear who the enemy is with the rapid shifting of coalitions. Historical allies become foes and foes become allies as technology quickly determines who is currently leading the technology race and receiving the profits. Four main concerns impact the day-to-day operations of the military: time, modernization, training, and burnout. Time is of the essence as every conflict, no matter its initial scope, has the capacity to explode into regional or global war. The decision cycle is compressed into hours, vice days or weeks. To remain ready, the military maintains worldwide vigilance. The pace of modernization is driven by the need to stay ahead in fielding the latest weapon or countermeasure. Unfortunately, the pace of modernization makes it difficult to keep personnel trained in the latest techniques and equipment. A combination of extremely high operations and training tempo causes rapid burnout of most front-line military forces. Most remain in the field only 5 to 10 years. A key challenge is the task of balancing this burnout with the need to retain individuals with “live” experience. Information-age advances have greatly benefited certain aspects of the military. Since many military missions can be performed “over the net,” many serve “on-line.” All headquarters and command functions are performed on-line from dispersed locations to reduce vulnerability and increase efficiency. Many nonmobile functions, such as acquisition, supply, and most logistics, are transitioned to the reserves. All officer and enlisted professional military education and advanced technical training is individualized, and most student interaction is conducted via virtual videoconferencing seminars. Summary Digital Cacophony is a world racing to keep pace with the rampant speed of technological change. This condition results from the effects of DTeK being at the extreme Exponentialn dimension. The power grid in this world has become Dispersed, and no one actor or government can control the free-flowing information across boundaries. The American world view is Global due to the numerous threats facing the country and world. The US realizes it is part of the “global village” and must be involved worldwide to guarantee long-term security.

Concret, cei de la New York Times au implicat Romania, intr-un articol publicat miercuri, in scandalul gripei porcine din cauza americanilor de la Smithfield, care au vandut si au facut schimb de porci contaminati cu pesta porcina intre fermele din Romania si Polonia cu o alta ferma pe care o detin in Mexic. Singurul argument concludent al publicatiei americane este ca, desi Smithfield detine ferme atat in Romania, cat si in Polonia, pesta porcina a izbucnit in tara noastra, in judetul Timis. Iar ca explicatia sa prinda fond, amintesc ca americanii detin o ferma de porci si in Mexic, situata foarte aproape de locul unde specialistii Organizatiei Natiunilor Unite investigheaza o posibila legatura intre porci si aparitia virusului gripei porcine la oameni. “Smithfield detine si o parte din ferma de porci localizata foarte aproape de locul in care specialistii ONU investigheaza o posibila legatura intre porci si noua gripa H1N1, care afecteaza omul. In articolul “Gigantul american Smithfield schimba estul Europei”, New York Times aminteste ca, in numai cinci ani, americanii au reusit sa isi creeze sustinatori in randul politicienilor din Romania si Polonia. Mai mult de atat, au absorbit sume mari din fondurile pentru agricultura ale UE si au reusit sa invinga orice opozitie pe plan local, creand un conglomerat de crescatorii de porci, dotate cu sisteme de hranire, grajduri controlate climatic si abatoare. In Romania, de exemplu, Smithfield, sustinuta la cel mai inalt nivel gratie lobby-ului facut de fostul ambasador Nicholas Taubman pe langa importanti politicieni romani, printre care si presedintele Traian Basescu, isi permite sa nu respecte normele de mediu si sa opereze fara autorizatii. Compania a construit imense containere metalice si injecteaza deseuri in pamant. Oamenii care locuiesc langa aceste ferme se plang de mirosul ingrozitor. New York Times mai scrie ca fermele Smithfield din judetul Timisoara se numara printre cele mai mari surse de poluare a aerului si a solului. Asta in conditiile in care Smithfield are 40 de ferme in Romania, iar impactul asupra mediului este mai mare decat cel asupra micilor fermieri. Amintim ca, desi nu a respectat masurile de biosecuritate, Smithfield a fost ajutata de Valeriu Tabara, seful de atunci al comisiei de agricultura din Parlamentul Romaniei. Cu sustinerea altor politicieni, Tabara a reusit sa treaca un amendament prin care proprietarii de animale aveau dreptul sa fie compensati dupa pierderi cauzate de boala, indiferent daca au fost ignorate masurile de biosecuritate.
Smithfield, sustinuta la nivel inalt in Romania
Inca de la sosirea in Europa de Est, Smithfield a curtat politicieni de varf din Polonia si Romania, cea din urma fiind o tara foarte saraca, cu o populatie 23 de milioane de oameni, cu o guvernare slaba si cu presiune constanta din partea UE pentru a-si rezolva problemele de coruptie. “In haosul care a urmat erei comuniste, este esential sa stii cum sa iti croiesti drumul. La Bucuresti, Smithfield s-a adresat lui Nicholas Taubman, un bogat om de afaceri republican, care a fost ambasador al SUA in Romania in timpul administratiei Bush. Taubman a insotit toti marii oficiali ai Smithfield in timpul intalnirilor cu presedintele roman si cu premierul”, scrie New York Times. Odata ce liderii de la cel mai inalt nivel din Romania si-au manifestat sustinerea pentru Smithfield, lucrurile au mers ca unse: aproape 12 dintre fermele Smithfield au fost proiectate de firma de arhitectura detinuta de Gheorghe Seculici, un fost vicepremier cu stranse legaturi cu presedintele Basescu, care este chiar nasul fiicei arhitectului. Basescu nu a avut nicio retinere in a recunoaste legatura cu Smithfield, companie pe care a laudat-o intr-o conferinta de presa comuna cu presedintele George W. Bush din timpul summitului NATO de anul trecut. “Basescu a apreciat deschis Smithfield. Compania a contribuit cu 20.000 de euro pentru a plati uniformele ceremoniale ale Romaniei de la reuniunile summitului, potrivit Ministerului de Externe”, scrie New York Times. Chiar si ambasadorul Taubman a spus ca accesul la nivel inalt este vital. “Este extrem de dificil sa faci afaceri acolo, daca nu cunosti pe cineva ca premierul sau pe cineva din cabinetul premierului, care sa poata sa le spuna celor vizati ce trebuie sa faca”, a spus Taubman.
